The Think Better Collection is an international philosophy and critical-thinking series by Brazilian psychoanalyst, philosopher, and author Deivede Eder Ferreira. Published by ABRAFP International Press, the series examines clear concepts, causal reasoning, strong arguments, and intellectual honesty.

The Think Better Collection treats thinking as a disciplined and ethical practice. Its central concern is not persuasion at any cost, but the quality of the reasons by which people interpret reality, explain events, make decisions, and defend conclusions.

Across three connected volumes, Deivede Eder Ferreira develops an intellectual sequence: first clarify ideas, then investigate causes, and finally evaluate arguments. The result is a unified project about how knowledge claims are formed, tested, communicated, and revised.

What is the Think Better Collection?

The Think Better Collection is a series on logic, causality, argumentation, critical thinking, conceptual precision, epistemic responsibility, and intellectual honesty. It connects philosophical reasoning with problems found in science, psychoanalysis, education, public debate, professional judgment, and everyday interpretation.

  • Book 1: Logic of Clear Thinking — How to Organize Ideas, Avoid Mental Confusion, and Think with Precision.

  • Book 2: Logic of Causality — How to Understand Causes, Consequences, Conditions, and the Hidden History of Things.

  • Book 3: The Art of Argument — How to Build Strong Reasons, Recognize Weak Arguments, and Think with Intellectual Honesty.

Logic of Clear Thinking

How to Organize Ideas, Avoid Mental Confusion, and Think with Precision

The first volume studies the architecture of thought before argument begins. Confusion often emerges when terms remain undefined, categories are mixed, assumptions are hidden, or several questions are treated as if they were one.

Ferreira examines conceptual boundaries, ambiguity, contradiction, inference, interpretation, and the ordering of propositions. Clarity is presented as a condition for responsible judgment: a thinker must know what is being claimed before deciding whether the claim is true.

  • Concept formation and conceptual boundaries.

  • The difference between information, interpretation, and inference.

  • Ambiguity, contradiction, and category mistakes.

  • The organization and sequence of reasoning.

  • Clarity as an intellectual responsibility.

Paperback ISBN: 979-8-1858-0064-5.

Logic of Causality

How to Understand Causes, Consequences, Conditions, and the Hidden History of Things

The second volume investigates the tendency to confuse sequence, correlation, and cause. Events rarely emerge from a single factor. They develop through conditions, structures, histories, decisions, probabilities, and interactions that must be distinguished before an explanation can be trusted.

The book connects causal reasoning with philosophy, science, faith, psychoanalysis, and social interpretation. It asks how causes are established, how consequences are traced, and why apparently simple events often contain a complex hidden history.

  • Cause, correlation, condition, trigger, and consequence.

  • Necessary and sufficient conditions.

  • Linear explanations and complex systems.

  • Historical causation and accumulated conditions.

  • Causal narratives in science, culture, and psychic life.

Paperback ISBN: 979-8-1859-7575-6.

The Art of Argument

How to Build Strong Reasons, Recognize Weak Arguments, and Think with Intellectual Honesty

The third volume presents argumentation as responsible thought rather than a technique for defeating opponents. A strong argument must state a claim clearly, provide relevant reasons, address objections, respect evidence, and remain open to correction.

Intellectual honesty is central to this volume. It requires representing other positions fairly, separating evidence from preference, admitting uncertainty, and revising conclusions when stronger reasons emerge.

  • Claims, premises, reasons, and conclusions.

  • Validity, relevance, evidence, and coherence.

  • Weak arguments and hidden assumptions.

  • Disagreement without distortion or bad faith.

  • The responsibility to revise conclusions.

Paperback ISBN: 979-8-1864-7763-1.

The intellectual architecture of the series

The sequence of the collection reflects a philosophical progression. Clear thinking establishes what is being thought. Causal reasoning investigates why something happens. Argumentation determines how a conclusion is justified.

  • Clarity defines the object of thought.

  • Causality builds an explanation.

  • Argumentation tests and communicates justification.

Together, the volumes form a practical epistemology: a study of how claims to knowledge should be organized, examined, and defended.

Logic, psychoanalysis, and unconscious investment

Deivede Eder Ferreira’s background in philosophy and psychoanalysis gives the collection a distinctive perspective. Reasoning is not portrayed as a purely mechanical activity. Thought is affected by language, desire, memory, identity, fear, repetition, and unconscious investment.

Psychoanalysis reveals why logical tools may fail when a person is emotionally attached to a conclusion. Logic, in turn, helps distinguish interpretation from arbitrary speculation by demanding conceptual coherence and explicit reasons. The series studies both the formal quality of thought and the subjective forces that shape belief.

Why intellectual honesty matters

Critical thinking is often reduced to identifying other people’s mistakes. The Think Better Collection proposes a more demanding standard: thought becomes critical only when it also examines its own premises, interests, blind spots, and limits.

Intellectual honesty means distinguishing what is known from what is assumed, what is probable from what is certain, and what evidence supports from what desire prefers. For Ferreira, the ethics of thinking is inseparable from the quality of the argument.

Deivede Eder Ferreira’s international contribution

Ferreira’s work is situated at the intersection of conceptual exposition and original theoretical production. He investigates how logic, desire, language, culture, and unconscious structures participate in judgment.

The Think Better Collection brings this project into international debates on critical thinking. It asks questions that matter across disciplines: How are concepts organized? What counts as a cause? When is an argument strong? Why do people defend weak explanations? What does honesty require when evidence challenges identity?

Published in English by ABRAFP International Press, the collection contributes a Brazilian perspective to global conversations in philosophy, psychoanalysis, logic, and intellectual ethics.

Érica Pires Conde

Psicanalista
